Podimo's Own Creator Revenue-Share and Affiliate Program: How a Danish-Founded Audio Platform Pays Creators

Podimo, founded in Copenhagen in 2019, pays podcast creators two different ways: an automatic affiliate link paying 25% of a referred subscriber's monthly subscription value for as long as they stay, and an approval-based streaming revenue-share paying up to 50% of a subscriber's monthly value for exclusive, bonus or ad-free content they actually stream — combinable up to 75% for the same subscriber. From 1 August 2026, ordinary ad-supported episodes no longer count toward the revenue-share. Podimo also runs a completely separate marketing affiliate program via the network Adtraction, open to any Danish publisher, not just a podcaster with a claimed show.

The short answer

Podimo, founded in Copenhagen in 2019 by Morten Strunge and four co-founders (Nikolaj Koppel, Sverre Dueholm, Andreas Sachse and Eva Lægdsgaard), per Podimo's own "The Podimo story" page (podimo.com/en/about, fetched directly 29 August 2026), pays podcast creators two different ways: an automatic affiliate link that pays 25% of a referred subscriber's monthly subscription value for as long as they stay, and an approval-based streaming revenue-share that pays up to 50% of a subscriber's monthly value for exclusive, bonus or ad-free content they actually stream — combinable up to 75% for the same subscriber. From 1 August 2026, ordinary ad-supported episodes no longer count toward the revenue-share. Podimo also runs a completely separate, third program — a marketing affiliate program via the network Adtraction — open to any Danish blogger or website, not just a podcaster with a claimed show on Podimo.

Who is Podimo?

Podimo is a Copenhagen audio subscription company, "founded in 2019 in Copenhagen" by Morten Strunge (CEO) together with Nikolaj Koppel, Sverre Dueholm, Andreas Sachse and Eva Lægdsgaard, per Podimo's own "The Podimo story" page. Per EU-Startups' own coverage, the company raised a €69 million round in 2021 led by 83North and Highland Europe to expand its exclusive original content globally — a secondary, not Podimo-published, figure reproduced here only as background on the company's scale, not as a confirmed current valuation. Podimo's own subscription costs, per mineudgifter.dk (the same source tier already used for Saxo Premium pricing elsewhere on the Academy), 99 kr./month for Premium and 129 kr./month for Premium Plus, with a free trial — these prices are not confirmed directly on Podimo's own site in this research and should be re-verified there before use in an actual budget. Podimo is therefore a genuinely Danish-founded company, in the same category as momondo and JYSK already covered on the Academy — but with a fundamentally different business model: an audio subscription service that pays content creators directly itself, rather than a retailer paying commission through a third party.

Method 1: Podimo's own affiliate link (25%)

Per several independent search results reproducing the content of Podimo's own support pages (support.podimo.com, which blocked direct fetching during this research — the same established pattern as Partner-ads's own site in other Academy articles), Podimo automatically creates a unique affiliate link for a podcaster as soon as their show is "claimed" on the platform — the link lives in the creator's own "Podcaster Studio" with no separate application. The creator keeps 25% of the subscription value for anyone who joins Podimo through that link, for as long as the subscriber stays — not just for a limited window. That makes the affiliate link the lowest-administration part of the program: it's already live the moment the show is claimed.

Method 2: Streaming revenue-share (up to 50%)

The second revenue source is separate from the affiliate link and requires an extra approval step: per the same source material, a podcaster first has to have their show approved by Podimo's own team before they can share exclusive, bonus or ad-free content on the platform. Once approved, the creator earns a share of subscription revenue every time a subscriber streams that content — up to 50% of the subscriber's monthly subscription value, with no cap on the number of streams. The calculation, per the same sources: subscription revenue × 50% × (the creator's share of that subscriber's total listening time ÷ the subscriber's total listening time on Podimo) — a formula that effectively functions as a per-subscriber cap: the smaller a creator's share of a given subscriber's total listening time, the smaller a slice of that 50% actually gets triggered.

The combination: up to 75%

If a creator both refers a new subscriber through their own affiliate link, and that same subscriber goes on to stream the creator's exclusive or ad-free content, the two revenue sources stack — 25% from the affiliate link plus up to 50% from the streaming revshare, producing a theoretical ceiling of 75% of that subscriber's monthly value for that one creator. It's worth stressing that 75% is a ceiling, not a typical average: it requires both that the subscriber stays with Podimo, and that essentially all of that subscriber's listening time goes to the one creator's content — something most subscribers, who listen across multiple shows on the platform, won't do.

What changed from 1 August 2026?

Per Podimo's own support article "What's changing with the Podimo Monetisation Program and why?" (reproduced via search results, since support.podimo.com blocked direct fetching), the program was updated so that ordinary, ad-supported episodes no longer count toward the streaming revshare — only exclusive, bonus or ad-free content does. A creator can still publish and share ad-supported content on Podimo via the RSS feed, but it no longer triggers a share of subscription revenue. Stream Rewards and Affiliate Fees earned through 31 July 2026 remain, per the same source, claimable quarterly across up to three claiming windows — a transition provision for earnings accrued under the prior version of the program, not a change to the 25%/50%/75% rates themselves, which this research finds reported as the current rates in effect after the change.

Method 3: A completely separate marketing affiliate program via Adtraction

Beyond the two podcaster-specific revenue sources above, Podimo also runs an ordinary marketing affiliate program that is something else entirely — confirmed via the affiliate directory affi.io (a third-party listing, the same source tier already used to confirm Matas's, Saxo.com's and Coolshop's network status elsewhere on the Academy). Per affi.io, "Podimo DK" runs through the network Adtraction with status "Opened" (active) and a 30-day cookie window, alongside equivalent programs in the Netherlands and Norway (both also Adtraction, 30-day cookie, active). Several older listings — Daisycon (Denmark), Awin (Germany), Admitad (Germany), Adtraction (Germany) and Adservice (Denmark) — are shown as closed per the same directory. The commission rate itself isn't disclosed in affi.io's listing (marked "n/c", not communicated).

The key point is that this Adtraction program is a completely different thing from the podcaster's own 25% affiliate link described above: the Adtraction program is open to any Danish blogger, website or other publisher who wants to recommend Podimo as a subscription and earn commission on sign-ups — regardless of whether that person has a podcast on Podimo at all. The podcaster's own link, by contrast, requires a claimed show on the platform and pays at a completely different, directly stated rate (25%). Confusing the two is the most likely mistake when researching "Podimo's affiliate program."

Podimo compared to Spotify and Apple Podcasts

Podimo's model sits structurally closer to Apple Podcasts Subscriptions than to Spotify's Partner Program: all three platforms let a creator earn from subscription value or ad revenue directly through the platform, but Podimo's affiliate link (25%, referral-based) plus separate streaming revshare (up to 50%, content-based) is a two-layer model, where neither Spotify (pure ad-revenue share, 50%) nor Apple (pure subscription share, 70-85%) has an equivalent referral component built into the platform's own creator program. None of the three models replaces an ordinary podcast sponsorship booked directly with an advertiser — they're separate revenue layers that can run in parallel.

Decision framework

IF you already have a podcast claimed on Podimo → check your own "Podcaster Studio" for the affiliate link; it's likely already live with no separate application.

IF you want to earn from streams of your own content, not just referrals → apply for approval to share exclusive, bonus or ad-free content; ordinary ad-supported episodes no longer count after 1 August 2026.

IF you're a blogger or run a website without a podcast on Podimo yourself → it's the Adtraction program, not the podcaster's own link, that's relevant to you; confirm the rate directly with Adtraction before building content around it.

IF you're comparing Podimo against other platforms that pay creators directly → see Spotify vs Apple Podcasts for how the two other major audio platforms structure their own payouts.

Worked example (hypothetical)

The figures below are hypothetical and for illustration only — not confirmed figures from Podimo and not a real Make Influence customer case. The 99 kr./month subscription price is secondary-sourced (mineudgifter.dk) and should be confirmed directly with Podimo before use in an actual budget.

Assume a podcaster on Podimo refers 10 new subscribers through their own affiliate link in a month, all on the Premium plan at 99 kr./month: Affiliate Fee = 10 × 99 kr. × 25% = 247.50 kr. in the first month, and the same amount each subsequent month for as long as the subscribers stay.

Assume further that 4 of the 10 referred subscribers also stream the podcaster's own approved, exclusive content, and that the podcast's share of just those 4 subscribers' total listening time is hypothetically 20%: Stream Reward per subscriber = 99 kr. × 50% × 20% = 9.90 kr.; for 4 subscribers = 39.60 kr.

Combined hypothetical earnings from those 10 referred subscribers in month one = 247.50 kr. + 39.60 kr. = 287.10 kr. That illustrates why the nominal 75% ceiling is rarely reached in practice: it requires a subscriber to spend essentially all of their listening time on that one creator's content — in this example the share is only 20%, producing a total well below the ceiling.

Common mistakes

  • Confusing the podcaster's own 25% affiliate link with the Adtraction marketing program. The two have different eligibility requirements, different rates and different target audiences.
  • Assuming 75% is a typical or average rate. It's a theoretical ceiling reached only if the subscriber stays and spends their entire listening time on one creator.
  • Assuming ordinary ad-supported episodes still trigger streaming revshare after 1 August 2026. Only exclusive, bonus or ad-free content does, post-change.
  • Using this article's rates in a budget uncritically without confirming them directly on support.podimo.com, which blocked direct fetching during this research.

Make Influence's perspective

Make Influence doesn't have a documented customer case with Podimo, and our own model is curated brand-creator collaborations, not a platform-owned revenue-share program like Podimo's. Our operational assessment, having reviewed the model for the Academy, is that Podimo's two-layer structure (referral plus content streaming) makes it a genuinely different consideration from an ordinary podcast sponsorship deal: a creator who already has their podcast on Podimo can stack the affiliate link and the revshare on top of an ordinary sponsorship without the two competing for the same commercial space. That doesn't change the fact that the rates should be confirmed directly with Podimo before they enter a business plan.

FAQ

Is Podimo a Danish company?

Yes — founded in Copenhagen in 2019, per Podimo's own "The Podimo story" page.

What's the difference between the affiliate link and the streaming revshare?

The affiliate link pays 25% of a referred subscriber's value, automatically and with no approval step. The streaming revshare pays up to 50%, but requires approval and only applies to exclusive, bonus or ad-free content the subscriber actually streams.

What changed for Podimo's creator program in August 2026?

Ordinary, ad-supported episodes no longer count toward the streaming revshare from 1 August 2026 — only exclusive, bonus or ad-free content does. Earnings accrued through 31 July 2026 remain claimable quarterly across up to three windows.

Can you earn money recommending Podimo without having a podcast there yourself?

Yes, through the separate marketing affiliate program on the network Adtraction (confirmed active in Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway per affi.io) — it's open to any blogger or website, not just podcasters with a claimed show.

How much does a Podimo subscription cost?

Per mineudgifter.dk (a secondary source), 99 kr./month for Premium and 129 kr./month for Premium Plus — confirm directly with Podimo before using the figure in a budget.

How does Podimo's model compare to Spotify and Apple Podcasts?

See Spotify vs Apple Podcasts for the full comparison — none of the three replaces an ordinary sponsorship deal, they're separate revenue layers.

Is this the same as Skimlinks or Sovrn Commerce?

No. Skimlinks and Sovrn Commerce automatically convert ordinary links on a website into affiliate links across thousands of merchants. Podimo's program instead pays specifically for subscription referrals and streams on Podimo's own platform.

Are there other Danish-founded companies with an affiliate program on the Academy?

Yes — see momondo and the Nordic travel-search affiliate model for another Danish-founded company, now owned by a foreign group, with its own affiliate model.

Is Podimo's affiliate program the same as an ordinary Danish affiliate network?

Partly — see affiliate influencer marketing in Denmark for the three networks (Partner-ads, Adtraction, Awin) generally active in the Danish market, including Adtraction, which also runs Podimo's separate marketing program.

How does an ordinary affiliate link work technically?

See affiliate influencer marketing: how the model works for the general mechanics behind cookie windows and tracking that the Adtraction program above runs on.

Should you always pick the program with the highest percentage?

No — see how to evaluate whether a retailer's affiliate program is worth a creator's time for a checklist that looks beyond the rate itself, including whether the source is primary and whether Danish coverage is confirmed.
